Imagine waking up to the aroma of a warm, hearty breakfast simmering away, ready to fill your home with a sense of comfort and tranquillity. Winona has shown us that one pot wonder is perfect for those chilly mornings when you need something substantial to fuel your day, without the hassle of multiple dishes and complicated steps. Whether you're cooking for yourself or for your family, this recipe promises to deliver a wholesome meal that’s packed with flavour and goodness.
Apple Cinnamon Oats
YOU WILL NEED
- Oats: 1 cup (about 90 grams)
Boiling Water: 1 cup (240 ml)
Milk (of your choice): 1 cup (240 ml)
Whole milk: 2 tablespoons (30 ml)
Collagen powder: 2 tablespoons (if you wish)
Eggs: 1 or 2, depending on your preference
Cinnamon: 1/2 teaspoon
Honey: 1 to 2 tablespoons, to taste
Blueberries
Butter: 1 tablespoon (14 grams)
1-2 Apples
Nutbutter of choice
Drizzle of milk (of your choice)
METHOD
Cook the Oats:
• In a medium pot, combine the oats, water, and milk of your choice.
• Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce to a simmer.
• Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and the mixture thickens.
Cook the Apples:
• Whilst oats are cooking, chop up both Apples
• Add a tablespoon of butter to a pan and light cook up Apples until warm
• When Apples are cooked to your liking, keep to the side ready to serve
Add the Whole Milk and Butter:
• Stir in the whole milk
• Continue to cook for another 2 minutes, allowing the mixture to become creamy.
- Incorporate the Collagen Powder (if you wish):
• Stir in the collagen powder until fully dissolved.
Prepare the Eggs:
• In the pot with oats, crack in the eggs.
• Stir continuously to prevent scrambling.
• Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the eggs are fully incorporated and the oatmeal has a smooth, custard-like texture.
Season and Sweeten:
• Add the cinnamon and stir well.
• Sweeten with honey to taste, stirring to combine.
Serve:
• Divide the oatmeal between two bowls.
• Top with Apples, sprinkle of cinnamon, blueberries, nut butter of choosing, honey, and dash of milk.
• Enjoy this cozy winter brekkie!
